Happy Cancer Season!

The Sun entering the sign of Cancer on June 21 is the official start of the summer season (winter for our friends in the summer hemisphere).

This summer is hot...literally and astrologically. The fire element reigns supreme over the next few months, with multiple transits occuring in all three fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius).

The next three months will emphasize action, strong impulses, creativity, passion, and desire.

For those of you with a lot of fire in your chart, or if you are naturally a fiery person, keeping your head cool will be necessary to keep you balanced and grounded. Stay hydrated. Wear white or light colors (avoid reds and oranges). Avoid arguments and conflicts at all costs…you don’t need the extra heat.

So let’s get into it.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

We begin with the Sun in Cancer making a favorable aspect to the True Node in Pisces on June 23. For those of you with a Cancer, Sun, Moon, or Rising you may feel a strong connection (or re-connection) to your purpose. This is an aspect that brings a sense of clarity and inner alignment so don’t be surprised if you have a few “ah ha!” moments.

On June 28, fiery Mars enters the air sign of Gemini. This is a placement that often manifests as restless mental energy, where minds race with thoughts and ideas but there isn’t clarity on what to do with all those thoughts and ideas. Sleepless nights and feeling scattered and all over the place…sorry, Geminis (Sun, Moon, and Rising), you will be feeling this the most. Meditation, putting your feet on the earth, sitting or standing with your back to a tree, or anything that helps you feel more stable and grounded will be helpful until Mars moves into Cancer on August 11.

And just to add to the feelings of scattered, all-over-the-placeness (yes, I made that up), Mercury goes retrograde in the sign of Cancer on June 29. Logical Mercury is already uncomfortable in emotional Cancer so this retrograde just adds to the sense of feeling out of sorts. Whenever Mercury goes retrograde, we are being asked to rewind and review. In Cancer, we are being asked to review how our connections to the past are either empowering us or holding us back. Mercury is retrograde until July 23, so expect some deep-seated memories to surface. Though some of these memories may be painful, remember that your inner self is making them rise to the surface for a reason. Ask yourself, “Why is this memory coming to me now? What am I supposed to learn from it? What do I need to heal, forgive, accept, or integrate in order to move forward?”

On June 30, Jupiter, the planet of optimism, growth, and myth-making, begins its one-year transit in the sign of Leo. Jupiter’s first major aspect in this sign is the following day, on July 1, where it makes a difficult aspect to Chiron, the wounded healer. Jupiter expands what it touches and this aspect gives us a clue to a major theme in this year-long transit. Jupiter expands both our woundedness and our capacity for healing. Combined with the energy of Leo, this placement brings BIG ego wounds, and each of us will have to determine if we will tend to those wounds or allow them to fester. Expect to see more drama, more large gestures, and more theatrics.

On July 4, Mars (planet of war) and Uranus (planet of swift change) combine in the sign of Gemini. It has already been noted by many astrologers that Uranus in Gemini periods have always been times of war from the United States - wars that have shifted the course of the country. The Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War II…all during Uranus in Gemini periods. I am not a fear-mongerer but this transit, to me, means something BIG is going to happen on or close to this date that will forever change the identity of the United States.

On July 7, Neptune, the planet of the subconscious mind, illusions, visions, and altered states, goes Retrograde in the sign of Aries. Neptune will be in Aries until 2039, and many astrologers have already noted that the exposure of false spiritual teachers that has already occurred in early 2026 is aligned with the spiritual self-sovereignty that is a theme of Neptune in Aries. This Retrograde period, which lasts until December 12, will continue to shatter rose-colored glasses and cause us to reflect on our boundaries. Neptune in Aries will either give you the clear vision needed to be self-empowered or lull you to sleep with the glamour of false teachers, depending on your level of consciousness and awareness. No judgement; all 0f it is necessary.

On July 9, Venus enters the sign of Virgo. Venus is known as the planet of love and beauty, but she is also the planet of balance and refinement. Virgo is conservative, minimalistic, and is more concerned with efficiency and utility than beauty. This placement reminds us to strike the balance. Sometimes, less is more. Sometimes, beauty is more apparent when there is an emphasis on symmetry and less on filling space. Consider what is truly needed in your immediate environment. What is draining your energy? Does your space need to be more organized? If it is cluttered, what can be given away? This energy solidifies even more on the next day, July 10, when Venus enters into a tense relationship with the True Node. Remember the sense of clarity and purpose of the Sun in a positive aspect to the True Node? Well, this placement challenges that. There is a tug-of-war between what we love and value and the soul’s need for growth. Sometimes what and who we love and hold to are the very things that keep is from moving on and up into the next chapters of our lives. Are you holding on to something you’re bring called to let go of?

There is a New Moon in Cancer on July 14. This is a time to rituals relating to motherhood, birthing, fertility, healing, and abundance. I will be sending out some rituals you can do during the New Moon so be sure to subscribe to the newsletter.

I will be sharing the Leo and Virgo transits soon!
